What Can We Do Here In Denia

We were told that if we had the time, we should enjoy a boat trip round from Denia to Javea then onto Altea and Benidorm. Local sightseeing was interesting in Denia around the area of the (ayuntamiento) building (town hall) along the Marques de Campo and the land mark sparkling tile dome over the Iglesia de la Asuncion church. The follow the signs and stroll up the few steps for the stunning view of Denia Bay. We discovered that the attractions in and around the castle shuts down between 1pm and 3pm (lunch).

There is an array of traditional brightly colored old houses surrounding the base of the castle adding to the atmosphere. We spent a few minutes at El Port in the area of the castle with its lively attractive restaurants looking out over the port area. If we had the time, we would have sampled the traditional rice based dishes such as Fideua a version of Paella. Paella recipes usually call for large quantities of meat and seafood. The more traditional restaurants here serve a version where the main ingredient is rice or noodles. I noticed a sign in many of these visitor attraction where for a fixed price of 46 € per person we could have sampled the tasting menu) a specialty of the El Raset just a short distance from a boutique hotel.
